The City of Markham’s Private Plumbing Protection Rebate Program is one of the most generous in the Greater Toronto Area. It provides significant financial assistance to homeowners who install backwater valves and sump pumps to prevent sewer backups and basement flooding. Basement flooding can weaken foundations, promote mold growth, damage property, and compromise the health and safety of your family. This rebate initiative supports homeowners in taking proactive steps to mitigate those risks and safeguard their homes.

Smart Protection, Lasting Benefits

• Health and Safety

Recent Reviews

The work was done very efficiently and very tidily. We needed a new channel under the basement floor to the sump pump. The imagined mess never materialized. Follow up questions were promptly dealt with and Canadian Rooter has become our "go to" plumber.

Had a leaky basement that could not be waterproofed from exterior, so I called Canadian Rooter for an interior solution. They answered by questions and came in immediately to waterproof the side of my basement and installed a sump pump. So far so good. Quick and easy and gave me a competitive price as I received three quotes and negotiated price. Very happy with the service. Thanks

I had an issue with my back up sump pump and decided to change it to a water powered sump pump back up. I got their name from my trustworthy regular plumber. I scheduled a time for them to come in, and they were on time, and they were very clean, putting cloths down before entering the sump pump room. The guys worked effeciently and the job was done well. I would definitely use these guys again, as there are a lot of non-trustworthy plumbers out there.

We needed to have a basement bathroom completely gutted right to the cement walls and waterproofed (inc. installation of a sump pump) as it had mold and leaky pipes etc. Andy from Canadian Rooter and his crew were wonderful: professional, courteous, turned up on time every day, hard-working etc. Everything was so well organized! Andy kept us informed every step of the way and the job was completed on time in 2 wks. We will definitely use them again.

I hired Canadian Rooter for a basement sewage line replacement and back flow valve installation; and I must say I was quite impressed. The team was professional, prompt, and efficient. The first stage - of the assessment, quote and permit application was seamless. Naz in particular handled all of the details and kept me well informed throughout. Of course, the permit approval process with the City took more time than I preferred, but that was of not fault of the team. The second phase and actual work itself was scheduled quickly and completed in a very timely manner. They kept the work space very tidy, such that you wouldn't even have known a massive trench was dug and significant demolition took place. Naz even facilitated the rebate application in the aftermath. Would highly recommend for future projects.

Naz , the supervisor came to my home on time. With expert advice, he explained my options. He got the necessary permit and arranged for the inspections. He filled out my rebate form. All I had to do was sign! It was a more difficult job than expected as most back water valves are installed indoors but I couldn't do mine indoors as I had laminate flooring over the access spot and I didn't want to remove it. His crew arrived on time and tried to find the location on the lawn with no success. Naz was going to refill the hole and not charge me but he asked if he could try closer to the house at an additional fee of $400 for another's day's work. I agreed. The crew found the spot, put in the valve, replaced the earth, tamped the ground and bagged the excess earth and stored it under my deck to put back in the spring when the ground settles despite not having to do this. Naz was happy it all worked out and said he wasn't going to charge the extra $400. Who does that? I generally don't hug tradespeople who come to do jobs but I hugged Naz. He didn't collect the deposit until the job was done. He drew diagrams to explain everything. As a senior I have dealt with many companies over the years but never had one so honest, caring and professional. Use this company!!!

Naz at Canadian Rooter is one of the most honest and reliable contractors we have ever hired. And his staff are incredibly hard working and execute a clean and efficient job. We originally hired Naz and team to replace the clay pipes in our old house and install a backflow valve. The price quoted was very reasonable. When the work started I was very surprised at how quickly the team of 8 or so employees were able to work. After being impressed with that work I decided to hire them once more to waterproof the back of our house. Once again the quote provided was very reasonable and the feedback and recommendation provided to install a sump pump was very insightful. The team worked just as quickly as before, and I thought digging under our deck would be very difficult or require a premium, but the same level of efficient service was provided. As they worked they advised me that the waterproofing that was originally done on the side of the house was done incorrectly (no weeping tile was installed even though the invoice claims that it was). This was upsetting news to receive, but once again Naz provided a very reasonable quote and with no delay the entire side of the house (approximately 25 feet) was dug out to the base of the house in a matter of 3 hours. The amount of work done was a lot and from all that money put in we are getting $3500 rebate for the back water valve and sump pump. There is absolutely no doubt that I will recommend Canadian Rooter to my friends who need plumbing work. The work done is very timely, on budget, and most importantly we were happy that we employed honest and good people. Thank you Naz and team.
