I was having trouble shutting of my laundry faucet for a while, and after forcing it too much I probably caused the mechanism to finally break down and what it was just a leak turned out to be a lot of water running unstoppable. It was night so I had to shut my main water off. The next day I called several plumbers, some didn't answer the phone, some charged me to come to my house and make a quote, another that I sent pictures never called me back. When I called this company I was answered right away by a lady called Tania, whom I briefly explained the situation, and she made sure to get any available plumber to call me back. Ten minutes later Phil called me aware of my problem and told that he would be in my house in less than 45 minutes. 30 minutes later he got to my house and explained everything needed to be done (basically cut off the old faucet, solder the new one and reconnect the primer line), how much it was gonna cost, very polite, professional and positive manner, and to my surprise their price was better than their competitor, a couple dollars less. I had no doubt and signed the contract right away. Phil did everything in one hour and let everything spotless and the most important: a functional, easy to shut off faucet. He also gave me a document for a one year warranty of service. I will sure recommend Phil and Canadian Rooter.

The job was inside and outside my house in the middle of Winter and they worked so hard. They came back to check on the soil in the Spring to make sure it settle okay and if there was anything else that needed done and I didn't have to call and ask them to come. I highly recommend them!

PLUMBING & DRAIN ROUGH-INS FAQ's

A plumbing rough-in refers to the installation of the plumbing lines, fittings, and fixtures that are required in a building before the walls and floors are finished. It is essentially the rough or initial installation of the plumbing system before the final connections and finishes are completed.

Here are some common components of a plumbing rough-in:

  1. Pipes: This includes the supply lines that bring water into the building and the drain pipes that carry wastewater out of the building. These pipes are typically installed during the rough-in phase, before walls and floors are finished.
  2. Fittings: Fittings are used to connect pipes and ensure that the plumbing system is leak-free. This includes fittings such as couplings, elbows, tees, and valves.
  3. Fixtures: Fixtures are the visible components of the plumbing system such as sinks, toilets, showers, and bathtubs. During the rough-in phase, the plumbing lines and fittings for these fixtures are installed, but the fixtures themselves may not be installed until later.
  4. Vent pipes: Vent pipes are used to ensure that the plumbing system has proper ventilation, which helps prevent unpleasant odors and keeps the system functioning properly.

The rough-in phase is important because it establishes the basic framework of the plumbing system. Once the rough-in is complete, the walls and floors can be finished, and the final connections and fixtures can be installed.

The cost of a plumbing rough-in can vary depending on several factors such as the size of the building, the complexity of the plumbing system, and the type of materials used. Here are some factors that can affect the cost:

  1. Size of the building: The larger the building, the more plumbing fixtures and pipes will be required, which will increase the overall cost of the rough-in.
  2. Complexity of the plumbing system: The complexity of the plumbing system can also affect the cost. If the system requires a lot of bends, turns, or connections, it can increase the time and materials needed, and therefore increase the cost.
  3. Type of materials used: The type of materials used can also affect the cost. High-end materials such as copper or PEX may cost more upfront but may have a longer lifespan than lower-quality materials.
  4. Labor costs: The cost of labor will depend on the location of the building and the experience level of the plumber. Plumbers in urban areas with a higher cost of living may charge more than those in rural areas.

Overall, the cost of a plumbing rough-in can range from $4,000 to $10,000 or more depending on the factors listed above. It is important to consult with a professional plumber to get an accurate estimate of the cost of the rough-in for your specific project.

The duration of a plumbing rough-in can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. Generally, a rough-in for a residential home can take between 2-5 days, while a rough-in for a larger commercial building can take several weeks.

Here are some factors that can affect the duration of a plumbing rough-in:

  1. Size of the building: The larger the building, the longer it will take to install the plumbing system. More pipes, fixtures, and connections will need to be installed, which can increase the overall time required for the rough-in.
  2. Complexity of the plumbing system: If the plumbing system requires more bends, turns, or connections, it can take longer to install.
  3. Accessibility: If the plumbing system is in a hard-to-reach area or requires demolition work to access, it can take longer to install.
  4. Experience level of the plumber: Plumbers with more experience may be able to complete the rough-in more quickly than those with less experience.

In general, a plumbing rough-in can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the specific project requirements. It is important to consult with a professional plumber to get an accurate estimate of the time required for the rough-in for your specific project.
